Investigation of Gamma-ray Shielding Features of Several Clay Materials Using the EPICS2017 Library

In this study, the investigation of Electron-Photon Interaction Cross Sections 2017 (EPICS2017) library on radiation shielding properties several clay materials is presented. The EPICS2017 was interpolated in recommended interpolation law through EpiXS program. Calculations were made for mass attenuation coefficients (MACs), mean free paths (MFPs), half-value layers (HVLs), tenth-value (TVLs), and effective atomic numbers (Zeff) materials, photon energies ranging between 1 keV 100 GeV. results from compared with values experimental theoretical methods used characterizing properties. Experimental MACs agreed well evaluations percent deviations 0.1–5.3%. MAC derived using EPDL97 XCOM-NIST strongly EPICS2017, 0.0–0.7% discrete gamma-ray 609–1764 keV. Overall, ball kaolin demonstrated most desirable characteristics. From these findings, as an important alternative future research general construction building materials. a versatile tool to compute parameters mentioned, specifically photoatomic library.
